James joined the firm in 2016, initially as a paralegal and went on to complete his training contract with the firm, taking seats in the company commercial, dispute resolution and employment teams. He now acts as a qualified solicitor within the employment team.
He has a wealth of experience advising and assisting both employers and employees on a wide range of issues including disciplinary and grievance processes involving challenges under the Equality Act where allegations of discrimination arise, settlement and redundancies. He has experience in drafting and reviewing contracts of employment, consultancy agreements and staff handbooks.
James has also gained significant tribunal experience and assists in defending claims for all aspects of employment law, recently being integral in successfully defending a claim of 21 different allegations of discrimination, and achieving settlement in a claim involving 62 individual claimants against his client.
Before joining Steeles, James studied Law at Southampton University, graduating with a 2:1 in 2014. He went on to receive a distinction on the Legal Practice Course at BPP Holborn and spent time volunteering at the Norfolk Community Law Service in their employment law clinics.
