Coronavirus: Update for Family Law cases

The Lord Chancellor has authorised court fees may be waived for applications to adjourn due to the Coronavirus outbreak in some family law cases.

If you are experiencing any of the following you could qualify for a fee waiver:

    1. A confirmed case or suspected case of Covid-19 infection
    2. You are self isolating in-line with current NHS advice
    3. You have child care responsibilities due to nurseries/schools closing as a result of Covid-19

A Judge will consider and determine your application to either adjourn or waive fees or decide that the hearing can still go ahead by video link or telephone.

All avenues must be fully explored before an adjournment is requested. The court will advise you if you are not successful in securing a fee waiver.

To discuss any of the above issues or if you would like legal advice, please contact Sally Harris or Sally Briggs in the Steeles Law Family Team, who will be happy to help you via email at family@steeleslaw.co.uk or by telephoning us on 01603 598000.
