5 April 2015 will see a radical change to the way parents can elect to take time off work following the birth of their baby, or the placement of an adoptive child. Many employees who are currently expectant parents will already qualify for shared parental leave.
In this HR Forum we will examine in detail the new entitlement for parents to take shared parental leave, and consider some of the practical difficulties that may arise in dealing with requests for such leave. We will also review existing entitlements to maternity and paternity leave and consider how the new arrangements for shared leave will fit with those existing rights.
Our employment team comments: “the introduction of shared parental leave from April next year will present a huge challenge to employers, who will need to review their existing policies and procedures now to ensure they are fully prepared. We will attempt to demystify the new system of leave and set it in the context of existing rights to maternity and paternity leave”.
The HR Forum will be held at Dunston Hall near Norwich from 2pm to 4.30pm on Wednesday 12 November 2014. For further information, including details of how to book, visit the Chamber of Commerce website.
