Contract Law

pen on paper

Contracts govern most business relationships. Contracts can arise in a variety of ways; they may be created by formal signed agreement, by correspondence, by email, by a course of trading, by the conduct of the parties, by an oral agreement or may be implied from the facts. Anyone who has authority to represent your business, including all employees, will have authority to bind your business in most legal contracts.

Our teams of specialist practitioners are able to advise at every stage of the contract formation process; from contract tender, helping to ensure that binding contracts do not arise inadvertently; through to final contract sign off and any future amendments or disputes. Our teams are experienced in negotiating commercial terms and can play an integral part of your team to ensure that the final contract works for your business the way you want it to.

Many of our clients have highly experienced in-house contract teams who handle most contractual issues themselves. We can provide these teams with regular training to ensure they are  up-to-date with the latest developments and reminded of some basic principles from time to time.

We can also act as an extra member of your team providing expert guidance when  required. We are happy to become as involved as you wish from leading the project through to providing assistance on specific issues as they arise.
