Broadcast

TV studio

These are exciting times for television production companies, all of whom are competing for the attention of the viewer who requires increasingly imaginative, original and inspiring content. The traditional and uncompetitive nature of the independent production market is a thing of the past, as branding and global format licensing generates millions each year worldwide.

The Communications Act 2003 altered the balance of power between the broadcasters and the independent producers. Now the production companies have the opportunity to retain rights in their programmes, and only need grant a limited licence of primary rights to the commissioning bodies for the purpose of broadcasting.
