Divorce/Civil Partnership and Separation

Ending a marriage, civil partnership or long term relationship is a big decision. At a time when you are dealing with emotional turmoil it can be difficult to know where to begin. This is where our family team can help.

We have a team of experienced, well trained and approachable divorce solicitors and practitioners, who will help you to navigate what is inevitably a difficult period in your life. We will work with you to ensure that the entire divorce or separation process is dealt with as quickly and as painlessly as possible.

Divorce and financial matters

We have many years of practical experience in assisting our clients in reaching a financial settlement (referred to as a Consent Order), as well as representing their interests in the court room in those cases where this becomes necessary. This means that you can be assured of the best possible representation.

If you have already reached agreement, we can also advise you as to whether this is fair and reasonable from a legal perspective.

Civil partnerships and financial matters

Dissolving a civil partnership involves similar steps to a divorce. We are also experienced in assisting our clients in reaching a financial settlement which will eventually form a Dissolution Order (rather than a Consent Order in the case of a marriage).

Separation agreements

Separation agreements can be drafted at the time of initial separation for married couples or those in civil partnerships. This agreement can be converted into a Consent or Dissolution Order at a later date when you are ready to take the next step. This can be a solution for those who wish to, for example, remain separated for two years before divorcing or dissolving the civil partnership. A separation agreement enables you to protect your family, interests and assets in the meantime.
